LORD Help Me Control Me

How many times do you find yourself saying daily that I am going to stop doing certain things that you know aren’t beneficial to you? There may be areas that you indulge in that you know you need to cut out. But some way or another you find yourself doing this, or eating that, or drinking this, or saying that, or thinking this. The bottom line you are having difficulty doing what you set your mind to do.

For the child of God, this should not be so. A lot of times we tend to be independent and not fully rely on God for everything. Most times many only involve God in the big things. He cares about all of you, every area of your life, and everything about you.

Understanding that as a believer in Christ you have the ability to possess self-control. The Holy Spirit on the inside of you is there to help you. There should be the fruit of the Holy Spirit as evidence in your ability to deny yourself. Galatians 5:22-23 CEV says 22 God’s Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, 23 gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways.”

I want you to try these 3 things to help you gain self-control.

  1. Pray: Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the ability to say no to things that are not good for you and yes to the things that are. Employ the Holy Spirit, remember He is your helper. (John 14:26)

  2. Find A Scripture And Declare It: Search for scripture that helps you in this area and make personal. Say it daily out loud until the fruit is evident. God will respond to His word.

  3. Use an affirmation that starts with I am: Example I am self-controlled. Your faith will come by hearing what you speak this over yourself.

Speaking over yourself regularly is so powerful. I believe in this so much that I wrote a Free PDF download that you can get Called Speak Over Yourself It teaches the importance of speaking the word of God over yourself.

If self-control is an issue then speak your way through it. Then your actions will begin to match. If you say out loud daily I am self-controlled when situations arise that would make this contrary, you will be more willing to make the right choice. In time you will see the fruit of the Spirit called self-control. However, remember that faith without works is dead. You must put In the work.
